CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas – David N’Guessan turned in a team-high 17 points, leading a cast of four Kansas State players to reach double figures as the Wildcats (4-1) closed out the opening day of the Paradise Jam with an 83-71 win over George Washington (4-1).
The Wildcats advance to Sunday’s semifinal game against Liberty at 9 p.m., while George Washington will face Louisiana on Saturday at 6:30.
K-State raced out to a commanding double-digit lead early in the opening half and kept the lead in double figures through the majority of the half - leading by 19 points (46-27) at the half. Momentum shifted in the second half as the Revolutionaries charged back, pulling to within four points (59-55) with 10 minutes to play, but the Wildcats were able to push the lead back to double digits (71-61) just three minutes later.
The Wildcats were able to keep the lead in double figures for the final 5:57 of the contest.
