CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas – Darren Buchanan, Jr. scored a team-high 17 points, leading a cast of five George Washington players to reach double figures as the Revolutionaries (5-1) picked up an 83-74 win over Louisiana (1-5) on Saturday night in the finale of day two of the 2024 Paradise Jam.

With the win, George Washington advances to play Illinois State in the 4th/6th place game on Monday, November 25 at 4 p.m., while Louisiana faces UAB in the 7th/8th place game at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The two teams traded leads in the opening minutes, but GW used a 13-1 run to grab a 12-point (25-13) advantage with 8:22 remaining in the first half. Louisiana gradually closed the gap to five (35-30) at the half.

Louisiana raged through the opening minutes of the second half, erasing the deficit completely on a 3-pointer by Kentrell Garrett with 17:49 to play and once again, the teams traded leads over the next several minutes. A 3-pointer by GW’s Trey Autry two minutes later started the Revolutionaries on a run that pushed their lead back into double figures (56-46) at the 13:22 mark, and GW would never trail again - leading by as many as 15 points down the stretch.
