CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas – Michael Christmas turned in a team-best 15 points, Kyrell Luc added 14 points, while Colby Garland and KJ McClurg added 12 points apiece as the Longwood Lancers (6-0) opened the 2024 Paradise Jam with an 89-81 win over UAB (3-3) on Friday afternoon at the Sports and Fitness Center.

With the win, Longwood advances to face the winner of the Illinois State/McNeese game on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., while UAB will face the losing team of that contest at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The contest was a back-and-forth affair that featured 23 ties and 18 lead changes, with neither team taking more than an eight-point lead during the contest. With 1:57 to play, Luc buried a jumper that gave Longwood a lead they would not relinquish down the stretch.

UAB’s Yaxel Lendeborg led all players with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
