MISSOURI STATE VS TEXAS TECH

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas – Jasmin Shavers scored a career-high 32 points, while Bailey Maupin added 12, leading the Texas Tech Lady Raiders (8-1) to a 72-69 win over Missouri State (4-3) on the final day of the 2024 Paradise Jam. 

The Lady Raiders took charge early, opening up an early nine-point (13-4) advantage before Missouri State narrowed the gap to four (15-11) at the quarter break. MSU used a 6-0 run early in the second quarter to knot the game at 21 with 4:54 to go until half, then pulled ahead, growing the lead to five (33-28) at the half. 

The MSU lead was as much as six (35-29) early in the third quarter, but the Lady Raiders narrowed the gap, reclaiming a 42-41 lead with 4:37 to go. Texas Tech grew the lead to five (48-43) with just under three minutes to go, but Missouri State pulled back again, leading briefly before the Lady Raiders hit the last bucket of the third quarter to take a 52-51 lead into the fourth. 

After MSU tied the game at 56-56 just 90 seconds into the fourth quarter, the Lady Raiders scored four straight points to grab a 60-56 advantage at the 7:16 mark. After Texas Tech pushed its lead to five (63-58) at the 6:07 mark, the Lady Bears erased their deficit and claimed a 65-63 lead after Kaemyn Bekemeier buried a long 3-pointer. Texas Tech reclaimed the advantage on the subsequent possession, and the two teams traded leads until Tech reeled off a streak of four straight points to seize a lead the Lady Raiders would not relinquish. 

Texas Tech returns home to play Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, Dec. 3, while Missouri State returns home to face Wyoming on Friday, Dec. 6.
