KANSAS STATE VS LONGWOOD
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas – Coleman Hawkins posted a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double, Brendan Hausen added a 16-point effort, Dug McDaniel chipped in 11 points and six assists, and David N’Guessan added 10 points of his own as the Kansas State Wildcats (6-1) rolled to an 80-64 win over Longwood (6-2) on Monday to capture third place at the 2024 Paradise Jam.
Momentum shifted back and forth between the teams during the opening half, with Kansas State claiming an early lead - jumping ahead 13-8 at the 13:43 mark. From there, the Lancers responded to push ahead at the 9:48 mark and grow the Longwood lead to as many as three points (25-22) at the 8:06 mark. However, the Wildcats took charge and pushed the lead into double figures (44-34) in the closing seconds of the half, ultimately going into the break with an eight-point (44-36) lead.
In the second half, K-State pushed ahead again, stretching the lead to double figures again at the 16:20 mark (52-41) and then pushing the lead to as many as 21 points down the stretch.
Longwood returns home for a Sunday matchup with Regent, while K-State returns home Sunday to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
